Administration - Assistant Principal
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in Earth and Space Science and Secondary Education in 2001. I packed up immediately moved to Colorado after falling in love with it during a Steamboat ski trip my senior year of college. I taught in Denver for seven years, all over the realm of science including: earth science, physics, environmental science, ecology, forensic science, anatomy and physiology, and astronomy. I earned my M.S. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University in 2005. From 2008 to 2016 I was an Instructional Coach at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, CO.
My greatest loves (besides my family) are communing with nature, friends, and good books. It has always a dream of mine to move to the mountains and be in a small community. In the words of my favorite naturalist - a Scot by birth and Wisconsinite by education - “the mountains are calling and I must go.” - John Muir. And so, my family and I moved to the Roaring Fork Valley this fall to simplify our lives, to be and closer to one another, and to be more connected to the beauty of nature. We are so happy to be a part of this very special valley. I am especially honored to be a part of the community at Basalt High School. I am looking forward to years of serving the BHS community as your Assistant Principal.
