10 things every parent should know to protect your
child from sexual abuse

10 Things Flyer (pdf)

On December 10, 2012 parents will want to attend the Parents Preventing Sexual Abuse presentation offered by Meghan Hurley.  Meghan has been the therapist at our local children's advocacy center, River Bridge Regional Center, since it opened in 2007.

Many concerned parents have contacted Meghan in recent weeks asking questions about how to talk to their children about the Jessica Ridgeway murder.  Meghan has taught 10 tips that every parent should know to protect your child from sexual abuse for the past two years, as a way to help parents wanting to gain knowledge on how to speak to their children about sexual abuse and stranger danger.

Meghan is bringing this class to Sopris Elementary School to help empower parents by giving them effective strategies on how to communicate with their children on this difficult topic.  Her extensive training related to sexual abuse victimization, as well as her work with survivors and their families, allows her to pass on knowledge that is essential for any parent to have.

Interested in creating a community of children safe from sexual offenders? Please attend on December 10, at Sopris Elementary School, from 6:30-8:30.  This is a free event.  For more information, please contact Meghan at 945-5195 or [ mailto:parentspreventingsexualabuse@hotmail.com ]parentspreventingsexualabuse@hotmail.com.
