I first fell in love with language and literature when I was in high school; so my goal is to teach reading and writing in a way that inspires young students to become avid readers and life-long learners.
I received my BA in English from the University of Northern Colorado and worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the college paper, The Mirror, prior to graduation. I continued to work in journalism for several years post graduation.
I started teaching Secondary English Language Arts in Tucson, Arizona where I practiced my craft for 10 years. I received my MA in Humanities with an emphasis in Environmental Literature and Nature Writing from Prescott College and began teaching post-secondary writing at Pima Community College and the University of Arizona. After working in the college world, the drive to work with high school students surged back, and I began working at a college prep academy for 5 years until moving to Basalt at the beginning of the summer. I'm looking forward to working in this wonderful community and with this wonderful population of students.
No surprise, like most who are drawn to the mountains, I'm an avid mountain athlete and love all things outdoors. Feel free to chat about beta, gear, and great place to explore.
