Intersection Construction Updates
MARCH 13, 2017:
The underpass project is reaching a milestone this week, weather dependent, as traffic will be shifting from the south to the north side of SH 82 in order to construct the second half of the underpass. If the weather cooperates there will be paving and then striping with a goal of shifting traffic around Friday (Happy St. Patrick’s Day). Mother Nature will determine whether all of that happens but that is the plan.
Transit riders on the down valley side will not experience much change, however up valley riders will need to walk toward Cody Lane to get around the construction so please leave a couple extra minutes for that.
We expect that it will take a couple of days for people to get used to the new alignment so expect possible delays during peak times. There will still be two lanes in each direction and a turning lane in the middle.
Also please remember the speed limit is 35 mph through the construction area. There will be people working in the road all week so please drive with caution.
SEPTEMBER: On Monday, September 19, 2016, the Town of Basalt began a project to construct a pedestrian underpass under State Highway 82 (SH 82) at the intersection of SH 82 and Basalt Avenue. When the 13-month project begins in earnest in October 2016, the speed limit through highway work zones will be 35 mph. Please build in extra time to drive to school in the mornings, use caution when driving through the construction zone, and follow flaggers' instructions. We will keep you posted with construction updates here on this webpage. Read more here:
