Professional Profile:
I graduated from Ithaca College with a B.S. in Organizational Communication. While in college, I had volunteered teaching in the Beira Corridor in Mozambique, and in Bihar, India and enjoyed it immensely. After moving to Colorado from New York, I began working as a para-educator here in the Roaring Fork Valley, loved it, and chose to pursue my licensure in special education.
While working towards my M.A. from the University of Northern Colorado, I worked privately with students with disabilities at home, continued to work as a para-educator, taught summer camp, and worked at the central administration at Colorado Mountain College.
After completing my student teaching at BES, I went on to teach special education in Rifle, Carbondale, and now back in Basalt, and have worked with students of all ages, and with a variety of needs. I enjoy getting to know students, and partnering with them, their families, and their teachers to best support them in meeting their personal goals.
Communication Preferences:
E-mail is the best way to reach me. I check it daily, and usually respond within 24 hours. I also have a sheet on my door for students to sign up to meet with me during lunch.
Fun Facts:
I have two wonderful sons who are almost ten years apart, who attend pre-school and middle school in the district.
I attended art school for two years, and continue to draw and paint in my free time.
